Prime Tower - Switzerland's 1st Skyscraper
The news is not new and I have posted already previously on this project. The Prime Tower in the Maagareal, Zurich, should be completed by 2009/2010.
Here is some more visualization of Switzerland's first skyscraper. But this is the finally chosen project (architects Annette Gigon&Mike Guyer). Honestly, I liked the other project (see my ealier post on my blog) from Burckhardt + Partner AG better. Anyways, here you have the chosen project:

According to another article, there is a building in Lausanne, that has been qualified with its 16 floors as 1ST HIGHRISE of Switzerland: (sorry only in German)
zu wenig hoch, um im internationalen Massstab als Hochhäuser zu gelten. Erst das Hochhaus Bel-Air-Metropole in Lausanne hält dem Vergleich stand und kann somit als erstes Hochhaus der Schweiz bezeichnet werden (Abb. 31). Es entstand unter der Federführung von Alphonse Laverrière. Erste Studien reichen ins Jahr 1929 zurück. Baubeginn war im März 1931, die Vollendung im Juli 1932. Der Mittelteil des symmetrischen Gebäudes schiesst beim Place Bel-Air gleich nach dem Grand Pont mit 16 Geschossen in die Höhe. Es ist ein steinverkleideter Stahlskelettbau, wie es in Amerika lange üblich war.
